The two publishing companies I am looking at are Bauer Media and Time Inc. Both are very
successful and have a wide variety of magazines available.
Bauer media
Bauer media are the largest European distributor, they have over 300 magazines in 15 different countries. The main group is based in Hamburg and Bauer Media is the UK section of the group. they also have online radio and TV shows.
the most popular magazines published by Bauer are Q, Mojo and Kerrang. Q and Kerrang both have their own radio and TV shows and also host large events every year.
Q and Mojo come close to covering the same target audience as my magazine. especially Q as it is also a rock magazine like mine. although I think Q targets a higher age bracket than mine does so it wont create too much competition.
Time Inc.
Time inc. is a large American company which only produces magazines. its products are read by half of Americans every week. it makes 90 magazinesits most popular magazines are Uncut and NME. uncut is only released in an online format. NME is a very popular magazine globally and they hold large events, awards shows and run a TV show.
